From 1- 2 pm, Marisol is teaching dances of the Orishas — Eleggua, Oggun, Oshun, Obatala, Yemaya, etc. We usually practice movements for two Orishas each class.
From 2-3, Marisol teaches a separate class just on rumba — rumba yambu, rumba guaguanco and rumba columbia. Afro-Cuban, folkloric rumba is sensual and fun to dance.
Marisol Blanco, master teacher and graduate of Cuba's prestigious Institutio Superior de Arte (ISA) teaches the ROOTS of all Cuban music in this Cuban folkloric dance class. She is an excellent teacher and makes the class suitable for all levels, giving each student individual attention.
Marisol is also a former member of the first all-female drumming and dance group in Cuba, Obini Bata. The class is accompanied by a live drummer: as more students join the class, we will be able to bring three bata drummers to accompany the class, as is done traditionally.
Shoes are not necessary for the class: students are barefoot. Ladies are encouraged to bring a long, flowing skirt, but it's not required.

I am new at Afro-Cuban/Rumba dance. I did take a mini class with Giana Montoya from Shiva Latina in Fort Myers Florida, and it was great. She did mention your name, so I looked your up. I am looking forward to meeting and taking classes with you. Hope to see you at the Miami Salsa Congress. What day are you teaching Rumba at the congress?
