Nelson VallinI grew up in Miami and am of Cuban decent. My education was attained in the following institutions; first I attended Miami Dade College where I received a degree in aviation, afterwards FIU where I got a business degree in finance and international business and then the University of Chicago where I earned an MBA in finance and economics.  Currently I earn a living as a financial advisor assisting international clients for one of the largest banks in the world.

I use to love to play racquetball but since I started to work out with my son about 3 years ago I gave it up.  All my free time goes to my 19 year old son, my girlfriend and Salsa.  My son and I go to the movies almost every weekend and to the beach 4 or 5 times a year.  Traveling is something I really enjoy and I have been to over 50 cities in over 18 countries.  Just like golfers like to play golf in different courses I think it is neat to dance Salsa in different cities.  To date I have danced Salsa in Toronto, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa, Mexico City, Varadero (Cuba), Bogota, Pereira, Cali, Cartagena, Caracas, Salvador (Brazil), London, Paris, Madrid, Santander, Bilboa, Sevilla, & Barcelona.  Other more sporadic interests which I would like to have more time for are flying single engine airplanes, SCUBA diving, skydiving & hand gliding. Intellectual interests include reading the Wall Street Journal and Baron’s newspapers as well as listening to Bloomberg podcasts on economics and finance.

My Salsa teaching started at Salsa Racing and then at Best of Dance, two local schools in the Miami suburbs about 5 years ago.  I have performed on CBS’ “The Morning Show”, a local TV show called “A las 7 con Fernando”, at the Adrian Arsch Performing Arts Center, the Sweetwater Festival, NSHMBA association annual conference and at other smaller venues. I have taught corporate classes for Bank of America, Sheraton Hotels, & Pfizer corporations. I am always willing to lend a hand so feel free to ask me for help.

See you on the dance floor!
